Situated inside the middle rampart in the SE quadrant of Mooghaun hillfort (CL042-074001-). A hut site, excavated in 1995 (licence no. 92E0093) as part of the North Munster Project of the Discovery Programme formed part of the first phase of occupation in this area before the rampart was built. Forty-one post and stake-holes form a circle 4m in diameter. There was one central post-hole (0.25m x 0.2m; D 0.27m) and a group four (diam. 0.14-0.16m) possibly representing a structure with sturdy internal roof supports. (Grogan 2005, vol. 1, 172, fig. 6.16)
