What is recorded here

Situated on the west bank of the Fergus estuary. A possible post and wattle trackway (published as Fergus estuary west 2) buried under 0.1-0.15m of compact estuarine clay. The remains consist of a post-and-wattle panel (exposed L 1.4m, Wth 0.7m), oriented N-S. More of the structure lies buried in the clays 2m to the S. A sample of roundwood produced a radiocarbon date range of Cal AD 1669-1942 (GrN-21927). (O’Sullivan 2001, 218-9, 297) Compiled by: Mary Tunney Date of upload: 20 July 2016
