Situated on a knoll on the N shore of Doo Lough. The remains of a sweathouse with its top removed. A mound (ext. diam. 5.2m N-S) remains with a flush stone face that slopes in as it rises. There is a hollow in the centre of the mound (diam. 2.6m N-S; D 1m) and the inner edge is also stone lined. The entrance (at WNW) is broken down. This sweathouse was surveyed as part of the Heritage Council funded Munster Sweathouse Project in 2009. The sweathouse was found to be circular in plan (int. dims. 1.96m N-S; 2.2m E-W) with drystone walls of grey rubble sandstone (surviving ext. H 0.8m at E; 0.48m at N; int. H av. 1.5m increasing to 1.8m at E). It was built on rock outcrop and possibly had a corbelled roof. A gap at WNW (Wth 0.55m) is likely to be the original entrance. The floor of the sweathouse is lower than the external ground level. (Harte 2009)
