What is recorded here

Situated at the bottom of a knoll on the N shore of Doo Lough. Incised motifs were noted on the most southerly of three black boulders (c. 0.5m x 0.4m; H 0.5m). One motif is an incised rectangle (H 0.12m; Wth 0.14m) on the W side of the stone with two incised ‘X’s’ in the bottom left-hand corner. Above the X’s there is a curved incision that may have been intended to be a cursive script but which is illegible. A sweathouse (CL039-037001-) lies c. 20m to the N. On the top and E side of the stone ‘JOE TY 1 JUNE 1956’ is inscribed. Both inscriptions are in the same style and are probably contemporary. Compiled by: Mary Tunney Date of upload: 13 July 2016
