What is recorded here

On a conspicuous hill in improved pasture, overlooking an undulating landscape and Lecarrow Lough to SE. A roughly oval area (19m N-S; c. 22m E-W) defined by the remains of a very low bank (int. H 0.2m; ext. H 0.6m; Wth at top 1.2m; overall Wth 3.65m) which has been reduced to a scarp (Wth 1.2m; H 0.35m) for the most part. The enclosing elements are obscured by thorn trees, furze bushes and briars and loose boulders are heaped on them in places. There are no obvious traces of an outer fosse. The interior has a very gentle WNW-facing slope and is covered in vegetation. The following images have been uploaded: CL035-067----_01.jpg From E. General view of monument. CL035-067----_02.jpg From S. Oblique cross sectional view of bank at SE. Compiled by: Mary Tunney, Alison McQueen and Vera Rahilly Date of upload: 10 April 2018
