This feature, named as ‘Diarmuid and Grania’s Bed’ on the 1840 edition of the OS 6-inch map, stood in gently undulating, improved pasture with reasonable views. Some rock outcrop forms a low rise close to NE. The monument is named as ‘Site of’ on the OS 25-inch map suggesting that it was no longer extant by the late 19th century. Westropp (1902-04, 112) concurs with cartographic evidence that the monument was gone by the turn of the 20th century and describes it as having been ‘a ruined box of slabs’. On inspection in 2017 there were no visible remains of any such features at ground level.
