What is recorded here

At the S end of a low N-S ridge with rock outcrop. This castle is not on the castle lists of 1570 or 1574, but according to Twigge the castle of “Tamhnach” was built by Mahon, son of Sean MacNamara. It was recorded by Frost (1893, 50) as belonging to the MacNamaras in 1580. It is not a mentioned in a deposition dated 1683, indicating that it had probably been demolished by that time. Oval grass and scrub-covered platform (dims. 18m N-S; 6m E-W) defined by a scarp (H 1-3m).
