What is recorded here

This record is for a possible megalith in Shallee townland. Borlase (1897, vol. 1, 81) reports ‘In the townland of Shallee, and Parish of Kilnamona, is a place called Leaba-na-glaise. Here may have been a dolmen. In some MS. “Notes” lent to me by Miss M. Stokes, reference is made to “human remains, a skull much shattered, and leg bones having been found here.”’ The location of these remains is unknown.   Compiled by: Mary Tunney   Date of upload: 12 November 2025

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.

The map shows only the centre of the wider government map area. The government record does not identify the exact monument point.
