This record is for a slab dated 1679 which originally formed part of a wall monument to Samuel Burton and is now on the ground near the tower within Clare Abbey (CL033-120----). The inscription reads: THIS TOMB WAS ERECTED BY SAMUELL BURTON ESQR FOR HIMSELF AND FAMILY WHO DESCENDED FROM THE HOUSE OF LONGNOR IN ST CHADES PARISH.
