On the N bank of the River Fergus opposite the site of Clonroad Castle (CL033-085001-) but not precisely located. An earthen fortification built in AD c. 1210 by Donnachad Cairprech Ó Briain and described in the Caithréim Thoirdhealbhaigh (cited in Ó Dálaigh 1987 and 2012) as a ‘circular hold and residence’. A new residence was built on the S side of the river in c. 1267. (Ó Dálaigh 1987, 20-22; 2012, 15)
