In an unknown location on O’Connell Square within Ennis historic town (CL033-082----). There is a reference to ‘stocks’ in 1682 and a later reference to the erection of a ‘pair’ of stocks in 1699 in the Corporation Books of Ennis as cited by Ó Dálaigh (2012, 15). Reference is also made to stocks throughout the 18th century with a pair erected in 1800 receiving a mention in the Ennis Chronicle on 23 October 1800.

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
The map shows the centre of the officially named townland area, not the monument. The government record does not identify the exact monument point.
