What is recorded here

At no. 10 Abbey Street, Ennis within the historic town (CL033-082----). An inscribed stone uncovered above and slightly to the right of the front door during the demolition of the remains of a 17th-century house (CL033-082029-) in August 1990. The inscription, in Roman capitals, reads ‘JAMES MACNAMARA BUILT THIS HOUSE ANNO DOMINI 1661’. The stone is on display in a wooden frame inside the present building constructed on the same site.
