Near the SW shore of Lough Atedaun. This crannog—and another (CL017-121----), situated at the opposite end of the lake, c. 670m to the NE — were discovered by Fr. Thomas MacNamara in the summer of 1972, a very dry period when the lake level was exceptionally low. The finding was reported to Prof. Etienne Rynne of University College, Galway, who visited the site in October 1972. Rynne (1981, 93) described this crannog as a suboval mound (13.5m NW-SE; 9.5m NE-SW; H 1.2m) of stones, surrounded by swampy ground. Subsequent satellite imagery (e.g., MapGenie 2013-18) shows the crannog to be periodically flooded when the lake level rises.
