At the junction of two drainage channels in a flat low-lying waterlogged area of a silted-up lake. Depicted on the 1840 ed. of the OS 6-inch map as a small circle (diam. c. 10m) at the tip of a strip of land jutting into the E part of a lake, in an area that was ‘Liable to Floods’. A subcircular flat-topped mound (dims. of base 21m E-W; 14.3m N-S; dims of top 7.8m N-S, 5.2m E-W; H 0.6-1.7m) composed mainly of earth but with some stone visible on its surface. A drainage channel running roughly WNW-ESE to its S has been recut and the resulting spoil, now overgrown, is spread along its N side. This drain may clip the SW end of the mound. The second drain runs NE-SW and deliberately curves around the W limits of the mound to avoid it.
