Described in the OS Letters as near Elm Vale house which was ‘called by the peasantry Tigh na Croise or House of the Cross’ (Comber 1997, 14) and described by Westropp (1900, 140) as one of two crosses ‘which marked the church lands at Crossard and Elmvale (Crossoughter)’. The location of this cross is unknown. ‘Brian Boru’s Well’ (CL016-100----) is located c. 111m to the S of Elmvale House. Compiled by: Mary Tunney and Lynda McCormack Date of upload: 19 July 2022

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.

The map shows the centre of the officially named townland area, not the monument. The government record does not identify the exact monument point.
