What is recorded here

On a level shelf at the bottom of a SE facing slope with rising ground c. 100m to the N, overlooking a valley to the E. Hachured on the 1840 and 1916 OS 6-inch maps. Listed as ‘enclosure’ in the RMP (1996). A roughly circular area (int. dims. 17.1m E-W; 14.3m N-S) enclosed by an earthen bank (18.5m E-W; 16.1m N-S crest to crest) visible from SW to NE but reduced to an external scarp (H 1.2m) elsewhere. The bank varies in width and height (Wth 3.3-5.3m; int. H 0.4-0.85m; ext. H 0.6-1.2m) and is widest and highest in the N. The original entrance (Wth 1.2m) is at ESE. A gap at NNW may be related to the construction of a later grass-covered field wall which runs N-S through the ringfort and a second gap at NE may be an animal gap.
