What is recorded here

Just N of the pier in Liscannor. Named ‘Liscannor Fort – site of’ on the 1840 and 1916 OS 6-inch maps. Westropp (1910, 155) refers to ‘Passing the little seaport, on the site of the old “Liss” of the O’Conors, that gave the place its name…’. On inspection in 1998 the area was found to be landscaped and occupied by Irish Lights no archaeological remains were visible.  Compiled by: Mary Tunney Date of upload: 4 November 2025
