What is recorded here

Near the S edge of the semi-karst summit plateau of Knockanes Hill. This quite large flat-topped cairn (12.3m N-S; 11.8m E-W; H 0.5-0.9m) has been dug out in its W centre, creating a subcircular crater (diam. c. 2m; D 0.6m) with adjacent upcast. There is a pyramidal stone heap (diam. 2.2m; H 1-1.3m) at the S edge of the cairn’s summit. The E edge of the cairn may have been cleared back. The cairn is the meeting-point of three townlands and the baronies of Burren and Inchiquin. Their boundaries are defined by drystone walls which intersect at the top of the cairn.
