Incorporated into the roadside gate pier of a modern house. These architectural fragments include at least three dressed stones (or portions thereof); all deeply set and bearing tool-marks and with chamfered edges visible on two of them. Ua Cróinín and Breen (1996, 9) described them and their findspot as ‘a garden wall and stone gate-piers containing stones cut and dressed in typical tower house fashion. Three chamfered loop jambs can be seen built into the same wall:’ and suggested that the stones may have been taken from the ruins of a tower house (CL010-036001-) c. 275m to the NW, of which virtually nothing now remains. They also suggested that masonry from the tower house was likely used in the construction of ‘Glencolumbkille House’ which is recorded on the Cassini edition (1920) the OS 6-inch map c. 115m to the W, but is since levelled.
