What is recorded here

On poached, clayey ground almost enclosed by hazel but with a patch of rough grazing S-W-W, and with a small stream immediately to the E which flows S before turning to flow SW, to the S of the monument. Listed as ‘Fulachta fia’ in the RMP (1996) on the basis of a 1994 map annotation by Tom Coffey which indicated four fulachtaí fia at this location (SMR file). During an inspection in 1999, only two were identified— this and a second (CL010-165----) c. 10m to the N. This fulacht fia comprises a hazel-covered, horseshoe-shaped mound (9.3m E-W; 7.5m N-S; int. H 0.3-0.6m; ext. H 0.6-1m) of burnt stone and ashy clay which is open towards the W, enclosing a central area (4m E-W; 2m N-S), which has some stone facing (H 0.25m) at its SW edge.
