What is recorded here

At the NE edge of an area of damp rough grazing (labelled ‘Liable to Floods’ on OS historic mapping), with a small stream flowing W and then SW c. 8m to the N, and with higher ground immediately to the NE-E-SSE. Listed as ‘Fulachta fiadh’ in the RMP (1996), in reference to this and another nearby fulacht fia to SSW (CL010-133002-), on the basis of a map annotation by Tom Coffey (1994, SMR file). This well-preserved fulacht fia comprises a horseshoe-shaped mound (16m N-S; 11.8m E-W; int. H 0.7-1m; ext. H 1.2-1.8m) with a narrow opening towards the S and enclosing an internal area (5m N-S; c. 2.2m E-W) with stones embedded along its edges NE-E-S.
