What is recorded here

Situated immediately to the S of a medieval church (CL010-087002-), in the S centre of an ecclesiastical enclosure (CL010-087001-). Indicated by a broken line and named ‘Grave Yard’ on the 1842 and 1920 eds. of the OS 6-inch map. This graveyard is hardly traceable, comprising a roughly semicircular area (c. 13m ENE-WSW; c. 6.5m NNW-SSE) of grass-covered stones and uninscribed headstones. Swinfen (1992, 134) recounted a local tradition that children were buried here up to 40-50 years before her time of writing. Compiled by: Mary Tunney and Conn Herriott Date of upload: 13 June 2023
