On the W-facing slope of a ridge in pasture, with wide views from SE to NW. Hachured on the 1842 and 1920 eds. of the OS 6-inch map. Listed as ‘Cashel’ in the RMP (1996). Described by Westropp (1896, 363) as ‘a rath of earth and stones’. This oval-shaped enclosure (int. dims. 32m N-S; 28m E-W; ext. dims. c. 48m N-S; c. 42m E-W) is defined by a levelled bank (Wth c. 6m) visible on Digital Globe (2011-2013) and OSi MapGenie (2013-2018) orthophotos. However only the outer slope of this bank is traceable on the ground, appearing as a scarp (H 0.2-1m). On OSi MapGenie (2005-2012) a soilmark of a levelled wall is visible extending N from the N side of the enclosure.
