Indicated — Tullycommon

In a slight dip on the NW shoulder of a karst plateau (above the 600’ contour) in rough grazing, with widest views out to the NE, and within an extensive multiperiod field system (CL010-064074-). Indicated on the OS 25-inch plan (1897) and on the later, Cassini edition (1920) of the OS 6-inch map. This circular enclosure (int. dims. 13.9m E-W; 12.2m N-S; ext. dims. 19.2m E-W; 18.8m N-S) is defined by a stone wall (Wth 2.1m at N) and associated collapse (combined Wth 3-3.5m; H 0.3-0.5m). The outer wall-face is visible intermittently around the perimeter. A grass-covered field wall extends N from the NW edge of the enclosure. The enclosure entrance (Wth 0.85-0.87m) is at the SE, lined by two large and fine slabs (NE stone L 1.53m; H 0.3-0.73m; T 0.2-0.25m; SW stone L 2.1m; H 0.4-0.75m; T 0.2m) set on edge and extending transversely through the width of the wall. These slabs increase markedly in height toward the SE. There are several other upright slabs (H 0.7-0.78m; Wth 0.5-0.6m; T 0.14-0.2m) nearby, which may be part of the enclosure’s wall-faces. The enclosure interior is slightly hollow. The enclosure wall has largely been removed at W-NNW and an annexe (int. dims. 13.9m NE-SW; 6.9m NW-SE) has been added here. A later drystone wall (Wth 0.5m; H 0.5m) enclosing this annexe is also built over the enclosure, except where the latter was removed at W-NNW.
