What is recorded here

In a slight hollow with limited visibility, in high (between the 400’ and 500’ contours) rough grazing and within an extensive multiperiod field system (CL009-084001-). Indicated on both the first edition (1842) and later, Cassini edition (1920) of the OS 6-inch map. Listed as ‘Enclosure’ in the RMP (1996). This subcircular cashel (int. diams. 28m E-W; 23m N-S) is defined by a wide, stony bank (Wth 2-4m; H 0.6-0.8m) upon which a later field wall is built. The interior is generally flat, with a small, oval-shaped livestock pen (int. diams. 3m NE-SW; 2m NW-SE) against the NW perimeter. This may be built on an earlier hut site. Immediately outside the cashel at NW is a hut site (CL010-047016-) and field walls radiate off the cashel at E, W and N. There is an enclosure (CL010-047004-) c. 87m to the NNE.
