Situated immediately outside the NE wall of the graveyard (CL010-021003-) around Templecronan Church (CL010-021002-). A gabled shrine, with two large slabs leaning inwards (L 1.45m WNW-ESE; Wth 1.05m; max. H 0.9m) open at the top, with a slab forming each gable end. A second slab shrine (CL010-021010-) is in the graveyard 5m SE of the Church. Shrines of this nature are ‘generally dated to the 7th century’ (Sheehan 1982, 40) and were probably designed to house the exhumed corporeal relics of notable ecclesiastics. These shrines are therefore likely to be much older than the church which is of 12th century date.
