A fulacht fia was recorded in this area at ITM 528806, 699908 (pers. comm. T. Coffey, SMR file) and listed in the RMP (1996). There was no visible trace of the monument when this location and the surrounding area were inspected in 1999 nor was there any evidence that the monument had been removed. It would appear that in this instance the locational information provided was incorrect due to a transfer from small to large scale mapping. While there is every reason to believe that a fulacht fia did exist its precise location is unknown.

This remains an important historical record, but the official description says the monument is no longer visible or has been destroyed.
The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
The map shows the centre of the officially named townland area, not the monument. The government record does not identify the exact monument point.
