A fulacht fiadh was recorded in this townland at ITM 527866 700484 (pers. comm. T. Coffey, SMR file) and listed in the RMP (1996). On inspection in 1998, there was no visible traces on the ground at this location nor was there evidence that the monument had been removed. It would appear that in this instance the locational information provided was incorrect due to a transfer from small to large scale mapping. While it is reasonable to believe that a fulacht fiadh was identified, its precise location is currently unknown.

This remains an important historical record, but the official description says the monument is no longer visible or has been destroyed.
The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
The map shows the centre of the officially named townland area, not the monument. The government record does not identify the exact monument point.
