What is recorded here

On a gentle S-facing slope in pasture, a shallow ravine running E-W immediately to the S, and within a multiperiod field system (CL009-059001-). This settlement cluster (c. 120m NE-SW; c. 35m NW-SE) of indeterminate date includes the remains of at least seven rectangular houses (CL009-167001- through CL009-167007-) built of well-made stone walls, in many cases with large facing stones. One house (CL009-167007-) was excavated in 1991 and was found to be 16/17th century in date with a possible earlier structure beneath. The medieval church of Noughaval (CL009-059023-) lies c. 40m to the N, within a graveyard (CL009-059024-). Compiled by: Mary Tunney and Conn Herriott Date of upload: 6 July 2022
