In rough pasture and hazel growth on a gentle NW-facing slope of limestone pavement, with an E-W ravine c. 70m to the S, and within a large multiperiod field system (CL009-059001-). Hachured on the 1842 and 1920 eds. of the OS 6-inch map but shown c. 47m more to the SE on 1842 ed. Listed as ‘Enclosure’ in the RMP (1996).
This almost circular cashel (27.6m N-S; 26.2m E-W) is defined by a stone spread (Wth 5-8m; int. H 0.5-0.9m; ext. H 0.4-1m). The inner wall-face is only visible at WNW, where the wall is 1.6m wide. The outer wall-face (H 0.5-1.5m) survives intermittently and is best preserved from NW to NE. It is built of large horizontally laid stones. At NE a hollow (6.5m NW-SE; 2-3m NE-SW) in the spill is probably the result of digging. The entrance (Wth 1.3m), now filled with rubble, is visible at SE. There is a souterrain (CL009-103002-) and possible trapezoidal structure (CL009-103003-) in the SW quadrant of the interior.
