On a slight rise in undulating pasture within a large multiperiod field system (CL009-059001-), with slightly higher ground to the E. Hachured on the 1842 and 1920 eds. of the OS 6-inch map. This circular cashel (29.7m E–W; 28.8m N–S) is defined by a denuded stone wall (Wth 4–5.7m; Wth at E 2.6m; int. H 0–0.4m). A later drystone wall (max. H 1m) is built on the barely traceable outer wall-face. An animal gap is visible at ESE. Another gap (Wth c. 5m) at SW accesses a subrectangular stone annexe (int. dims. 5.8m NW–SE; 5.7m NE–SW), which is defined by a collapsed and grassed-covered wall (Wth 1.5–2m); it slopes to the SW. The annexe appears to be associated with later use of the site. In the cashel interior there are several collapsed field walls (Wth 2–2.5m; H 0.5m), which are probably remnants of a field system that post-date it. A standing stone (CL009-059100-) lies c. 63m to the SSW and the well-known cashel ‘Caherballykinvarga’ (CL009-059012-) lies c. 66m to the SW.
