What is recorded here

Situated in the N half of the interior of a cashel (CL009-053010-), this Z-shaped souterrain (L 11m) is now largely exposed. The W end (L 3m; Wth 1.1m; H 0.5m) is roofed with three lintels and it appears that the entrance was at this end, which is heavily overgrown with rubble strewn around it. The passage continues a short distance (L 0.4m) to the E of the linetelled section, where the N side-wall survives in poor condition. It then turns N (L 3m). Both side-walls survive in this section but it is overgrown and filled with rubble; the N end of the W wall is particularly dilapidated. The passage then turns E (L 5m; Wth 1m; max. H 1m). Here too it is filled with rubble and there is rubble (Wth 2m) all around it. (Westropp 1898, 365) Compiled by: Olive Alcock and Conn Herriott Date of upload: 31 January 2022
