Grave Yard — Kilcorney,kilcorney Glebe

In pastureland on a rocky knoll on the floor of Kilcorney Valley. Indicated and named ‘Grave Yard’ on the 1842 and 1916 eds. of the OS 6-inch map. A medieval church (CL009-028002-) occupies its E half. This graveyard (c. 34m E–W; c. 30m N–S), irregular in plan, lies immediately to the S of a WNW-ESE running road. It is enclosed by a mortared stone wall and access is gained through a gateway at the W end of the N wall; there is also a style in the wall to the W of the gateway. Most of the graves, some of which are uninscribed, are located to the S of the church but a number of more modern graves are visible to its W. Swinfen (1992, 35) and Coffey (1993, 68) noted that a decorated Romanesque window head that was formerly located in the E gable of the church has been reused as grave-marker. Apart from the moulded stone noted on the ground outside the doorway of the church, a number of other architectural fragments have been recorded by Large (2011) at various locations within the graveyard.
