In an area of marshy pasture, on the E bank of a NW-SE flowing stream. Identified during archaeological assessment and monitoring at the site of a proposed sewage treatment plant, and subsequently excavated (Fitzpatrick 2002, 'Site 2'). This well-preserved oval-shaped mound (9.7m NE-SW; 8.8m NW-SE) was composed of decayed and heat-shattered stones. A line of three post-holes (oriented NE-SW) found within the mound were interpreted as marking fence-posts of a recent field boundary.
