Situated on fairly high rocky ground with higher ground to the NE, E and S. Listed as ‘Cashel’ in the SMR (1992) and the RMP (1996). Westropp (1899, 180) mentions that Garracloon has ‘two old enclosures, fairly built, but much broken and a third (CL005-160006-), farther eastward, somewhat D-shaped in plan, bears the townland name’. It is unclear which enclosures are referred to as the first two. There are two conjoined enclosures indicated at this location on the 1st ed. OS 6-inch map, however, on inspection in 1998 these were found to be irregularly shaped enclosures (N enclosure diam. c. 37m; S enclosure diam. c. 26m) defined by a combination of modern drystone walling (T 0.8m; H 1.2-1.7m) and some older stone facing.
