On a raised rocky platform on the E and SE slopes of a ridge under hazel scrub and at the centre of the deserted village of Lissaroo. This record was listed as a ‘Settlement deserted (possible)’ in the RMP (1996). The name of the site, given as ‘Lios an Ru’ on Robinsons map (1997), supports the presence of an enclosure of antiquity.
On inspection in 1999, a possible oval enclosure (30m N-S by 25m E-W) defined by a scarped earthen bank (Wth 6m; int. H 1m; ext. H 1.5-1.7m) was recorded. The bank has modern external facing from NE-SE and is surmounted by a modern wall (Wth 1.4m; H 0.4m) from N-NE.
