What is recorded here

Situated in rough pasture near the N edge of a N-S ridge on the E side of the Caher valley, in a multiperiod field system (CL005-014001-). A subcircular cashel (int. dims. 24m E-W; 18m N-S) defined by a collapsed stone wall (Wth 1.2-1.6m; int. H 0.2-0.4m; ext. H 0.3-1m); intermittent outer wall-facing (max. H 0.5m) is visible. A natural gap (Wth 2m) between two sheets of rock to the NNE may mark an entrance. A later field wall runs on the inner edge of the wall from E to SE. There are two circular hut sites (CL005-015003- and CL005-015004-) in the interior. The base of a wall is visible running off the cashel wall at W on recent aerial imagery (Google Earth Imagery, 25 April 2021). It may be associated with the cashel or is possibly more ancient. A large stone cairn (CL005-015001-) is located c. 90m to the N. Compiled by: Olive Alcock Date of upload: 24 January 2022
