What is recorded here

On flat ground c. 420m SE of the foreshore, with good views to the N. Overlooked and sheltered by a steep ridge c. 500m to the S. Indicated and named ‘Graveyard’ on the 1842 and 1915 eds. of the OS 6-inch maps. A roughly trapezoidal graveyard (L c. 80m; Wth at SSE c. 23m; Wth at NNW c. 50m) orientated NNW–SSE within which lies Killonaghan medieval church (CL004-015002-). None of the inscriptions date to earlier than 1890 and there are no medieval or early medieval slabs in evidence. Within the church there are three headstones standing in the W half and three flat graveslabs in the E half. Compiled by: Mary Tunney and Ros Ó Maoldúin Date of upload: 22 February 2021
