Rabbit burrowing in a small mound was noted in 1983 to have revealed a shell midden (Coffey 1985, 30 (photograph)) close to the site of the mill (CL003-032008-). The midden was recorded at ITM 530737, 707924 (pers. comm. T. Coffey, SMR file). The shell types included periwinkles and oysters. On inspection in 1992 there were no visible remains at ground level and the precise location of the midden is unknown.

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
The map shows the centre of the officially named townland area, not the monument. The government record does not identify the exact monument point.
