Two sets of identical iron gateways flanking gate lodge, erected c.1835. Each gateway comprises double-leaf wrought- and cast-iron vehicular gates hung on iron piers paired to either end with matching piers set on granite ashlar bases. Flanked by matching pedestrian gates hung on octagonal-profile granite ashlar piers supporting decorative cast-iron lamps with copper lanterns. Spear-headed gates have cross members while iron piers have rosette and anthemion cast elements with shallow pyramidal caps and supported to north elevation by large scrolled wrought-iron brackets. Matching pedestrian gates hung on octagonal-profile granite piers hewn from single block with shallow capstones and elaborately cast lamp bases with foliate details and replacement copper glazed lanterns. Short section of matching iron railing attaches both gateways to lodge. Bitmac roads pass through both gateways, while that to east is no longer in use. Terminated on outer sides by rubble stone boundary wall of Phoenix Park.
