Aghaboy House — Glennan

Detached L-plan three-bay two-storey house, built c.1850, having porch to front elevation, and earlier three-bay two-storey block of c.1780 to rear (south-east). Hipped slate roofs with yellow brick chimneystacks, timber eaves boards and cast-iron rainwater goods, and with roof-light to rear projection. Coursed rubble limestone walls, render removed to front and south-west elevation, having red brick block-and-start quoins to first floor and dressed limestone rubble quoins to ground floor. Smooth render to north-east elevation of older block and rear of later block. Roughcast render to porch with moulded render platband and cornice, and plain quoins. Half-dormer windows to south-west elevation, having decorative timber bargeboards and dropped finials. Gauged brick square-headed window openings with render reveals, painted masonry sills, red brick surrounds and replacement uPVC windows that mimic one-over-one pane timber sash windows. Shouldered render surround to windows to porch. Render surrounds to windows to north-east elevation of older block. Square-headed door opening to north-east elevation of porch having render surround and replacement timber battened door, with cast-iron boot scraper to front. Square-headed door openings to north-east elevation of older block, with render surrounds, stone steps and replacement timber doors. Three-bay single-storey outbuilding adjoining rear, recently refurbished, having pitched slate roof with recent roof-lights, replacement rainwater goods and yellow brick chimneystack, rubble walls to south-east and south-west, render to other elevations, square-headed window openings with red brick and render surrounds, stone sills, and replacement uPVC windows, square-headed door opening to north-east elevation with render surround and replacement uPVC door, with three stone steps. Square-headed door opening to south-east elevation having replacement uPVC door. Three-bay outbuilding to north-east of rear of house, with pitched slate roof having terracotta ridge tiles, whitewashed coursed rubble limestone walls, square-headed timber doors. Cast-iron railings on coursed rubble limestone plinth walls having render capping surrounding area to front of house. Single-leaf cast-iron pedestrian gate flanked by cast-iron fluted and banded piers to north-west of house. Pair of round-plan rubble limestone piers with render capping flanking single-leaf cast-iron vehicular gate to north of house.
