Entrance gate to Castle Hamilton demesne, erected c.1860, set at angle to road with vehicular gates supported by ashlar piers, flanked by pedestrian gates and wing walls. Square-profile ashlar gate piers having stepped pyramidal capstones with finials and plinths to bases, simpler outer piers to pedestrian gate of corresponding design. Double-leaf decorative cast-iron gates with floral motifs and scrollwork over top rail, pedestrian gates of similar design to main gates. Set in demesne boundary wall of squared rubble stone, sections recently rebuilt. Detached Georgian Gothic three-bay single-storey gate lodge with advanced porch to south inside gates. Lodge having pyramidal replacement roof with wide oversailing eaves, exposed random coursed sandstone walls, and pointed arch window openings with stone sills, all remodelled.
