Freestanding marble statue, erected 1899, comprising female figure on limestone pedestal and plinth. Statue bearing banner inscribed '1798', cornice with carved shamrock motif. Commemorative texts inscribed in dado record date of laying of foundation stone, October 3rd 1898, and date of unveiling of monument, 9th September 1899. Situated at former market place intersection of Grattan and Market Streets. Bouding plinth wall, railings, corner posts and lamps now lost.
