Aasleagh Rectory

Detached three-bay (two-bay deep) two-storey Church of Ireland rectory, extant 1892, on an L-shaped plan with single-bay full-height projecting end bay; two-bay two-storey rear (north) elevation. Occupied, 1901; 1911. Renovated, ----. Hipped slate roof on an L-shaped plan with part pressed iron-covered clay ridge tiles, paired rendered central chimney stacks having cut-limestone stringcourses below capping supporting terracotta or yellow terracotta pots, and cast-iron rainwater goods on slightly overhanging rendered box eaves retaining cast-iron octagonal or ogee hoppers and downpipes. Roughcast walls with rendered band to eaves. Camber-headed central door opening into rectory with timber mullions on threshold supporting timber transom, and concealed dressings framing timber panelled door having sidelights below overlight. Square-headed window openings (ground floor) with drag edged dragged cut-limestone sills, and concealed dressings with "Cyma Recta"- or "Cyma Reversa"-detailed hood mouldings framing replacement uPVC casement windows replacing two-over-two timber sash windows. Interior including (ground floor): central hall retaining carved timber surrounds to door openings framing timber panelled doors; drawing room (south-west) retaining carved timber surround to door opening framing timber panelled door with carved timber surrounds to window openings framing timber panelled shutters, Classical-style chimneypiece, and plasterwork cornice to ceiling centred on "Acanthus"-detailed ceiling rose; and carved timber surrounds to door openings to remainder framing timber panelled doors with carved timber surrounds to window openings framing timber panelled shutters. Set in landscaped grounds with piers to perimeter having capping supporting flat iron double gates.
