Newport Parochial Hall — Castlebar Street

Detached single-bay (three-bay deep) double-height gable-fronted parochial hall, dated 1940; extant 1942, with single-bay single-storey flat-roofed advanced porch to entrance (south) front. Now disused[?]. Pitched (gable-fronted) corrugated-iron roof behind parapet with cast-iron rainwater goods on rendered eaves retaining cast-iron downpipes. Rendered wall to front (south) elevation on rendered plinth with rendered "bas-relief" strips to corners supporting parapet having concrete coping centred on rendered date stone ("1940"); cement rendered surface (remainder) bellcast over rendered plinth with roughcast surface finish to rear (north) elevation. Square-headed central door opening approached by flight of three concrete steps with step threshold, and concealed dressings framing timber panelled double doors. Square-headed flanking window openings with concrete sills, and concealed dressings having stepped reveals framing timber casement windows. Square-headed window openings (remainder) with concrete sills, and concealed dressings framing timber casement windows. Street fronted with concrete footpath to front.
