Nimmo's Pier — Claddagh Quay

Dressed limestone pier, built c.1830, aligned east-west and having short north-south return to north side. Earlier north-south aligned pier to western end with later north-east-south-west aligned pier to north-west. Coursed dressed limestone walls battered to north elevation at east end of main pier. Concave profile to walling of south elevation of east end, with recent concrete and rubble stone abutment at water level. Limestone steps to north elevation having replacement wrought-iron handrails. Rubble stonework to earlier pier to west with later snecked limestone face to east elevation. This early pier shelters concrete and rubble stone slipway and small area of shingle and sand. Later pier to north-west, of dressed limestone construction having limestone steps to north and south elevations with wrought-iron handrails. Tarmac and grass to upper surfaces of main and attached piers, rubble limestone wind break wall to southern side of main pier. Limestone mooring bollards and cast-iron mooring rings to northern edge of pier. Single cast-iron mooring bollard to eastern end of pier at mouth of the harbour from Ross & Walpole foundry in Dublin, located nearby a recent beacon and heavily rope-marked limestone bollard.
