Saint Mary's Catholic Church — Ballysaggart

Detached eight-bay double-height Catholic church, built 1913; opened 1913, on a rectangular plan comprising seven-bay double-height nave opening into single-bay double-height chancel (south) with single-bay single-storey flat-roofed projecting porch to entrance (north) front. Renovated, ----, with sanctuary reordered. Pitched slate roofs, crested clay ridge tiles with rendered buttressed gabled bellcote to apex (south), concrete coping to gable to entrance (north) front on ogee kneelers with Celtic Cross finial to apex, and cast-iron rainwater goods on "Cavetto" consoles retaining cast-iron octagonal or ogee hoppers and downpipes. Rendered walls with rendered buttresses including rendered clasping buttresses to corners having rendered coping. Lancet window openings with chamfered flush sills, and concealed dressings framing fixed-pane fittings. Lancet "Trinity Window" (south) with chamfered flush sill, and rendered "bas-relief" surround framing iron mesh storm panels over fixed-pane fittings having leaded stained glass panels. "Rose Window" to entrance (north) front with rendered surround framing fixed-pane fittings having stained glass margins centred on square glazing bars. Paired lancet window openings (porch) with chamfered flush sill, and concealed dressings framing fixed-pane fittings having stained glass margins centred on square glazing bars. Pointed-arch opposing door openings ("cheeks") with concealed dressings framing timber boarded double doors having overlights. Interior including vestibule (north); square-headed door opening into nave with glazed timber panelled double doors having overlight; full-height interior open into roof with choir gallery (north) below "Rose Window" (----), "terrazzo" central aisle between cruciform-detailed timber pews, Gothic-style timber stations, exposed pointed-arch braced collared timber roof construction on ogee corbels with wind braced rafters to timber boarded ceiling on carved timber cornice, and pointed-arch chancel arch framing stepped dais to sanctuary (south) reordered, ----, with replacement altar table below stained glass memorial "Trinity Window" (----). Set in landscaped grounds.
