Mocollop Castle

Detached thirteen-bay two-storey rubble stone outbuilding, c.1810, comprising single-bay two-storey gabled advanced central bay with elliptical-headed carriageway to ground floor, six-bay two-storey flanking lateral wing to south-west having elliptical-headed carriageway to left ground floor, and six-bay two-storey flanking lateral wing to north-east having pair of elliptical-headed carriageways to right ground floor. Reroofed and refenestrated, c.1985. Now disused. Pitched roof (gabled to central bay) with replacement corrugated-iron, c.1985, iron ridge tiles, and cast-iron rainwater goods on squared rubble stone eaves. Irregular coursed squared limestone walls to central bay with random rubble sandstone walls to wings having lime mortar. Camber-headed window openings to ground floor and square-headed window openings to first floor with cut-stone sills, squared rubble stone voussoirs, and replacement timber casement windows, c.1985. Oculus window opening to gable to central bay with cut-limestone voussoirs. Now blocked-up. Square-headed door openings with squared rubble stone voussoirs, and replacement iron-sheeted doors, c.1985. One round-headed door opening to lateral wing to north-east approached by flight of rubble stone steps with limestone ashlar voussoirs, and tongue-and-groove timber panelled door. Elliptical-headed carriageways with cut-limestone voussoirs, and replacement iron-sheeted double doors, c.1985. Set back from road in grounds shared with Mocollop Castle.
