Nirevale — Ballymacarbry

Detached three-bay single-storey farmhouse, c.1880, possibly over part-basement retaining original aspect with four-bay single-storey return to north on a cruciform plan having single-bay single-storey projecting bay to east and single-bay single-storey gabled projecting glazed porch to west. Hipped slate roofs on a T-shaped plan (gabled to porch; hipped to projecting bay) with clay ridge tiles, rendered chimney stacks and cast-iron rainwater goods on overhanging rendered eaves. Painted rendered walls. Painted red brick Running bond walls to porch with stringcourse and saw tooth detailing. Square-headed window openings (one in bipartite arrangement to projecting bay) with stone sills. 1/1 and 2/2 timber sash windows. Segmental-headed door opening approached by five cut-stone steps with glazed timber panelled door, sidelights and overlight. Square-headed door opening to porch with replacement tongue-and-groove timber panelled door, c.2000. Square-headed window openings to porch with stone sill and 2/2 timber sash windows. Set back from road in own grounds with gravel forecourt to front having sections of stone cobbling, landscaped grounds to site having wrought iron fences, and stone cobbled paths and courtyard to north.(ii) Attached two-bay single-storey mono-pitched outbuilding, c.1880, to north. Mono-pitched slate roof with clay ridge tiles and cast-iron rainwater goods. Unpainted roughcast lime rendered walls over random rubble stone construction. Square-headed window opening with stone sill and 2/2 timber sash window. Square-headed door opening with timber boarded door.
