Freestanding railway footbridge, erected 1848, comprising cast-iron depressed-arch with latticed parapets, supported on cast-iron columns with ornate foliate capitals, having cast-iron staircases with latticed sides and decorative stair risers, cast-iron balusters and ball-topped newel posts. Later steel girders support west staircase. Moulded concrete telephone box under eastern staircase.
